Mr. Anger, You've made me so happy.

Tonight was an "Evening with Kenneth Anger" at the Ann Arbor Film Festival and what an evening it was. Good ole' Kenny taught us a thing or two about young men, sailors, Lucky Strikes, motor bikes, and oldies. I've seen his Scorpio Rising before, but to see one film after another (Rabbit's Moon could play on repeat and I'd be satisfied) and then get to listen to Mr. Anger go on about all such topics as Lucifer  and the Jonas Brothers was to say the very least, quite the experience. Kenneth was a like the hyper/homo-sexual, satan-worshipping, endearing uncle that I never had and always wanted.
I also had the opportunity to meet Brian Butler, who has worked with Kenneth for many years and most recently did the projections for the Valentino Fall 2010 show in Paris. Hearing this was the type of moment when you try to keep your eyes in head and wipe the drool from the floor...I mildly succeeded at this - but Paris Fashion Week, six projectors, Kenneth Anger, front row, and Valentino - that man is living my dreams.

Film Fest ends tomorrow....tear, until next year.

Shrink Your Dink

Woven throughout the work I've been doing for school I've been making shrinky dink jewelry based on medical illustration. - Again this is why I love art school, "oh between collaging magazines, I make jewelry out of child craft materials" But if people are need of spinal cord earrings, I'm here to serve them.

making things. doing things. going places.

The past three weeks have been filled with over stimulation and I mean that in the most positive way possible. It's resulted in my desire for an extra brain hard-drive to store it all (not sure if Mac is making those yet).

Then one must return the "reality", if that is what we're calling this these days...meaning back to school, back to work, back to the internship ( Ann Arbor Film Fest - starts Tuesday), and back to the bar.

Olympics, Fashion Week, and School?

Over the past few weeks I have taken multi-tasking to a whole new level. Fashion shows during my breaks from dirty Russian, Olympian figure skaters, and figure skaters as a break from collaging, and collaging as break from Oceanography, which I doubt I have a strong future in. Nevertheless, some people have obsessions with individual things/ideas....I have a an obsession with being a "well-rounded" individual - one should know a little bit about everything.

Words, I Haven't Forgotten You.

Been working on image collage, but am still interested in text collage and poetry. Here are the latest pieces.

You’re Dad is Weird
I’m not comfortable around mustaches
Shoulders always cave amidst testosterone
Thought he wanted sex
Too fat to fuck a child
Staff of poison
The lamp we love and would never use
I’m innocent
But I can see in the dark
Mama didn’t have a blanket

(quotes by and/or inspired by six people)

If you’re going to be ugly
Commit to it
Be really fucking ugly
This time with a different haircut
Legs that look like chicken skin
Bulldog mouth
Homelessly endearing
None of this mildly attractive business
I have to look like shit to have a good personality
I’m not pretty
But I’d fuck me

(quotes by and/or inspired by four people)

Fancy yourself an intellectual
Sip your espresso
I don’t watch the news
Sip your espresso
It’s not something that I care about
Sip your espresso
What about
Me
How much brown water is too much?
God help us
How are we to cultivate brain cells?

I couldn’t resist jamming into my ear
Silence plus silence does not equal sound

Working for Ann Arbor Film Festival currently and getting to see a lot of great shorts.
